Hi, I'm Chris
I've worked in the motor trade for 25 years. I started as an apprentice, qualified as an MOT Tester in 2007 and achieved Master Technician status in 2022. As vehicle technology has changed, I've taken specialist training in electric and hybrid vehicles, advanced diagnostics and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).
For me, running an independent garage is about giving the kind of service I'd want myself. I believe in being honest, straightforward and transparent, explaining the work clearly, and never recommending something that isn't necessary.
My aim is always to find the cause of a problem rather than simply treat the symptoms.

Where is CHM Autos?
CHM Autos is on Arundel Road, Walberton, Arundel, West Sussex, BN18 0QP, between Arundel and Fontwell. Customers come from Walberton, Arundel, Fontwell, Barnham, Yapton, Littlehampton, Bognor Regis, Chichester and the surrounding area.
What are your opening hours?
Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00. Closed at weekends and on bank holidays.
How soon can I get my car booked in?
Bookings are usually available within a week. Book online and choose a weekday that suits you.
What time do I drop my car off?
All cars are dropped off at 9am on the day of your booking, so I can plan the day and get your car worked on as quickly as possible.
Do you repair Tesla, electric and hybrid cars?
Yes. I diagnose and repair Tesla and all makes of electric and hybrid vehicle. I've completed specialist training in electric and hybrid vehicles. More about EV, hybrid & Tesla.
How much does a diagnostic check cost?
A diagnostic assessment is from £90 + VAT (£108 inc. VAT). Once I've found the fault, I'll contact you with a price for the repair before doing any work.
Are you cheaper than a main dealer?
My saying is ‘quicker & cheaper than the dealer’. As an independent garage, you get Master Technician expertise without main dealer overheads, and you deal directly with the person working on your car.
Will a service here affect my manufacturer warranty?
No. Under block exemption rules, an independent garage can service your car without affecting the manufacturer's warranty, as long as the service follows the manufacturer's schedule and uses parts of matching quality. I service to manufacturer specifications with genuine or quality OE parts.
Do you do MOTs?
I arrange your MOT on your behalf and can carry out any repairs or advisories that come up.
Will I get a price before work starts?
Yes. If your car needs anything beyond what you booked, I'll explain what's needed and what it'll cost. Nothing extra is done without your approval.
